Known all over the world for her talent, beauty, and fashion sense, Beyoncé makes some bold moves when it comes to her fashion choices for her latest album, 4. The stylish singer opted for small, lesser known designers over big fashion houses like Chanel and Lanvin; one of the designers, Leah Rae, is still a student at the Fashion Institute of New York who has yet to start up her own label! Among the small and independent designers are 36 year-old Dutch designer Jan Taminiau, 27 year-old Maxime Simoens, and Alexandre Vauthier.

“It was important to Beyoncé that the choice of clothing not be about the brand but about the quality of the work," said Jenke-Ahmed Tailly, Beyoncé's creative director.

In addition to the unique beauty of these avant garde pieces, it is refreshing that Beyoncé chooses to highlight lesser known artists, especially considering Moni Moni is an independent brand. The Fall 2011 Haute Couture collections marked a return of fashion's favorite monochrome combination. Black and white looks ruled the runway after last season, when designers avoided being too bland by matching basic looks with splashes of bright, neon accessories. This time around, however, designers amped up the glam factor by showering the looks in all-over shimmer that glistened and gleaned as models strutted beneath the bright lights of the runway.

The Oscar awards of the perfume industry, the Fragrance Foundation’s 39th Annual FiFi Awards was held just last week in New York. In attendance was our very own Moni Moni girl, Halle Berry! Halle wasn't just there to smell new perfumes -- she took the award for Celebrity Fragrance of the Year for her perfume "Reveal." The prestigious award is presented by the Fragrance Foundation’s Board of Directors, and honors a celebrity who has embraced and promoted the world of fragrance over a period of time. It celebrates the ongoing success and support given by the celebrity to the industry and therefore attracting consumers to the category. She also won the Broad Appeal award for her fragrance "Pure Orchid." How's that for smelling victory? Halle, who has a great collection of other fragrances said, “For years I have created my own personal scents by mixing and layering fragrances, trying to come up with something unique and different. It’s a wonderful form of self-expression and I am thrilled to share these fragrances with consumers worldwide,” said Ms. Berry. “I am very honored to receive this FiFi award.
